Braze sensor for wheelchairsBraze Mobility, a Canadian firm which provides assistive technology for wheelchairs, has announced its new distribution partnership with Beyond Mobility, a UK provider of premium mobility and independent living solutions.

The collaboration marks a major milestone in Braze Mobility’s expansion into the UK market, enabling greater access to innovative technology for wheelchair users across the region.

Founded in 2016 by Dr Pooja Viswanathan, Toronto-based Braze Mobility has developed the world’s first patented blind spot sensor systems that can be added to any wheelchair, turning it into a smart mobility device. The sensors provide real-time feedback through lights, sounds, and vibrations, empowering users with increased spatial awareness, safety, and independence.

Now, wheelchair users and clinicians in the UK will have access to Braze Blind Spot Sensors through Beyond Mobility, a family-owned mobility solutions provider based in the south west of England that offers tailored wheelchairs, power assist devices, and seating systems.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Beyond Mobility, whose values of empathy, quality, and individualized care align perfectly with our mission to empower users without taking away their control.”

Barry Reeve, Director at Beyond Mobility, added: “Our mission is to deliver the industry’s best mobility solutions, and we’re proud to add the Braze Blind Spot Sensors to our offering.

“This technology supports our goal of ensuring that each client receives not just the best products, but also the confidence and safety they deserve in their day-to-day lives.”

Wheelchair collisions are a common issue, often resulting in injuries, damage, and reduced access to mobility. Braze Blind Spot Sensors can be added to any manual or powered wheelchair, transforming it into a ‘smart’ mobility device that detects obstacles and provides real-time feedback through lights, sounds, and vibrations.

Developed through over a decade of user-centered research, the system improves spatial awareness while keeping the user fully in control—enhancing both safety and confidence.
