It requires all organisations to fundamentally rethink elements of their operations, from manufacturing methods to supply chain management.

“It is an area that many of our members are investing a great deal of time and investment in, to ensure they are doing everything they can to help the NHS in England meet its net-zero goal by 2045.

“This is why it is vital that the efforts and needs of industry are being recognised, as this goal can only be reached through collaboration. I look forward to representing our members in this important discussion with our peers from the NHS.”

GS1 standards provide a common language that allow businesses to identify, capture, and share information the same way on a global scale. Through the standards, users are better informed, are able to find the products they are looking for, and are protected through improved traceability. Patients can expect safer treatment, according to GS1 UK.

Last year, occupational therapists (OTs) at The OT Show were able to find out how their clients could have protection and additional reassurance through choosing BHTA member companies to purchase from.

BHTA member companies reassure users by voluntarily committing to the BHTA Code of Practice, the only industry-approved code under the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI)’s Consumer Codes Approval Scheme.

The code affords extra consumer protection, including free mediation and independent arbitration, resulting in more peace of mind for the individual.
