AWL-E powers up for the Paris games to promote wireless charging solutions for mobility aids
Canadian technology solutions provider AWL-E is bringing wireless charging solutions to athletes competing in the Paralympic Games in Paris, marking a significant milestone in promoting accessibility on a global stage.
Nearly 4,500 Para athletes are expected to take the world stage in Paris this week and participate in the summer games, competing in 549 medal events across 22 sports, including a number of wheelchair events like wheelchair basketball, rugby, fencing and tennis.
Montreal-based AWL-Electricity collaborated with WHILL France to bring its charging solutions to the games.
Its Agile Station claims to be the world’s first wireless charging station for motorized mobility aids and it will be showcased alongside WHILL devices as part of the mission of inclusivity at the games.
WHILL will have 30 devices at the games, with some located in the athlete village and others at the Inclusive Mobility Park.
The Agile Station, which will be available at both locations, offers a slim and compact mat that enables autonomous and wireless charging at a comparable speed to traditional wired solutions while reducing the necessity for human interactions.
It is specifically designed to optimize the charging process for powered mobility aids, significantly improving the autonomy and independence of users.
Francis Beauchamp-Verdon, Chief Operating Officer of AWL-E, commented: “Our electrical engineering, certification, quality control, manifacturing and design teams have worked day and night to make this product a reality.
“The Agile Station is many things. It is hope for individuals with impairments to become more autonomous every year through innovation. It is our differentiator in a deep tech industry that has only built prototypes or industrial products. It is our proof to global companies that we can deliver solutions from design to certification.
“But above all, the Agile Station is a demonstration of passion and persistence.”
