EI Whirlpools Assisticare

Supplying and installing a range of assisted bathing products, including specialist baths, Assisticare has bolstered its product offering by acquiring EI Whirlpools Ltd.

Based in Leeds, Assisticare provides a full range of products and services aimed at the care market and private customers, including assisted baths, mobile and ceiling hoists, walk-in showers, disabled toilets and bath cushions.

James Robertson, founder of Assisticare, confirmed the acquisition of EI Whirlpools would increase its product portfolio, with its range naturally complementing the care market.

Founded in 1998, EI Whirlpools manufacture a range of whirlpool, air spa and lighting systems, including its patented BathSound bathroom audio system which converts a bath into an audible loudspeaker, allowing the user to play the music from a smartphone, tablet or MP3 player using a Bluetooth connection.

Robertson highlighted that these products are designed to be integrated into specialist and conventional baths to provide the user with an all-around multi-sensory experience that can help with personal hygiene, aid relaxation and allows the user to get the maximum benefit from their bathing experience.

“Having worked with EI Whirlpools Ltd for a number of years, it seemed a natural progression and dovetails nicely with what we have been doing at Assisticare in promoting sensory bathing,” he said.

“As the elderly care market is progressing toward caring for more individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia it is the field of sensory stimulation, from a range of products, that can improve the lives of sufferers that are going to be increasingly sought, whether that be in residential care or living at home.”

According to Robertson, the systems are already in use by some bath manufacturers in the industry and the focus will now be on increasing its presence in the healthcare market.

“With a new website coming online soon it is a very exciting time ahead as I will be looking to develop and build on the current product range and market them in a new direction,” he concluded.
