Apollo Healthcare Technologies
Pressure-care manufacturer Apollo Healthcare Technologies has announced that it has been awarded ISO certification for its active pressure care mattresses for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

The Yorkshire-based firm was awarded ISO 13485: 2016 certification on 22 May 2021 for the manufacture, assembly, distribution and service of its active and non-active pressure care devices, cushions, and associated products for the healthcare industry.

ISO 13485:2016 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

The certification for Apollo Healthcare Technologies (AHT) includes its companies in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia.

David Locke, CEO of AHT Holdings, commented: “This has been a massive investment covering our company globally which started back in June 2021 when we started putting our business plan in place to meet the latest MDR requirements which we knew would be enforced on 26 May 2021 and we made the decision to use TUV Rheinland to achieve this.

“During this long road to achieve certification we met many hurdles with COVID 19 including having to send part of our Quality Management Team to TUV Rheinland in Poland for our stage 2 audit knowing they had to isolate for two weeks on their return.

“Following completion of our certification all products manufactured and supplied by AHT Holdings/Apollo Healthcare Technologies globally prioritise patient safety, device effectiveness and are all clinically evaluated both Class 1 & Class IIa for active pressure care.”

A manufacturer and supplier of pressure care products, beds, hoists, chairs, and associated accessories, Apollo Healthcare Technologies was formed in 2012 and sells to the NHS as well as to the nursing and care home sector through a distributor network.

It is a member of the BHTA, which represents over 430 companies in the healthcare and assistive technology industry.

Earlier this year, the organisation announced that it had appointed Daniel Blackburn to the role of Operations Manager, who would be taking on responsibility for stock control in accordance with AHT’s ISO 13485:2016 MDD/MDR quality management system.
