Access Your Life Directors (AYL) Lauren & Felix

Access Your Life (AYL) Directors Lauren Matthewson and Felix Ledger-Beadell will be advising mobility firms that directly support, target, or influence people with disabilities on how they can effectively reach their target audience at next week’s RISE @ THIIS Conference.

The presentation, ‘Effective Content for Social Media: Why your marketing content should speak to your client base. How to effectively reach the consumer market through inclusion in branding’, will explain to mobility companies how not using inclusive marketing could mean they are not reaching an entire customer base.

This RISE @ THIIS Conference session will take place at 11:45am on 10 May 2022 at the Doubletree by Hilton, MK Stadium, Milton Keynes. The 30-minute session is aimed at marketing teams, equipment suppliers, manufacturers, occupational therapists and anyone else within the industry who directly supports, targets, or influences disabled people.

Lauren and Felix have a mutual understanding of the challenges associated with managing a disability in an ‘inaccessible world’. Shortly after receiving a life-changing diagnosis, Lauren quickly realised her age range was often not represented in any disability-related branding, including the companies she relied upon to supply equipment.

Consequently, in their session, Lauren and Felix will discuss the importance of inclusion in disability-related branding and provide insights into how brands can make products and services appealing for people of all shapes, sizes and ages.

A key focus in the talk at RISE @ THIIS will explore why companies within the mobility sector that only use elderly models when promoting mobility and independent living are not being representative of the entire disabled sector and could risk losing out on customers. Access Your Life is helping companies around the world create realistic social media content, promotional adverts, and campaigns.

Attendees will also be given the opportunity to ask Lauren and Felix questions at the end of the presentation.

Access Your Life started as a wheelchair review forum, which quickly expanded to a directory filled with equipment reviews, including scooters, WAVs, and daily living aids, allowing people to assess how well a device meets their individual needs before purchasing.

Fast forward to 2022 and the AYL website has a growing selection of services, including a community blog, preloved equipment rehoming scheme, grant application assistance service, and a request form that connects new equipment buyers with the correct services, distributors, and products.

On top of equipment-based services, AYL offers employment opportunities for several people with disabilities that previously prevented them from finding work.
