AKW donates respiratory equipment to India

Accessibility solutions provider AKW has donated four respiratory ventilation machines to help ease the suffering of those struggling with the coronavirus in India.

With the help of its logistics partner, XPO, and global relief agencies, AKW sent the Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) machines to the Vitasta Health Care Trust in Bantalab Jammu, India, where they will be used to help treat patients struggling with coronavirus complications.

Nick Parsons, Group CEO of AKW Holdings, comments: “We acquired the four PAP machines to donate to the UK, to help fight the effects of the coronavirus.

“However, with so many other Government led initiatives to create PAP machines, we were unable to make this contribution.

“We decided therefore to hold onto this equipment in anticipation of a needy cause.

“India’s recent spike in COVID-19 cases and subsequent struggle to provide respiratory equipment to all those in need made the choice to donate an easy one”.

AKW specialises in the design and manufacture of showering, daily living and kitchen solutions for people with mobility needs. Its clients include the majority of local authorities, housing associations as well as national and regional contractors.

The past year has been a busy one for AKW with the launch of its new showering, bathroom and sanitaryware collections for users with reduced mobility.

In February, the firm also assisted the Band of Builders charity with fitting out an accessible wet room in the home of a plumber with motor neurone disease.
