AJM Healthcare awarded prestigious Ministry of Defence wheelchair contract
Securing another major contract, AJM Healthcare has won a prestigious contract to provide a fully integrated wheelchair service to the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC). Covering the entire UK, the service will provide assessments, wheelchairs, repairs and maintenance to serving armed forces personnel.
The DMRC, based at Stanford Hall in Loughborough, Nottinghamshire, is a brand new £300 million facility gifted to the nation by Prince William in 2018. The DMRC claims to be the ‘world’s best clinical rehabilitation centre’, delivering clinical rehabilitation to serving members of the armed forces.
Its mission – ‘Repairing our Seriously Wounded’ – will involve AJM working alongside prosthetics providers and specialist clinicians.
Assessments and equipment will be provided from AJM’s new service centre in Derby, with Sunrise Medical providing a new fleet of loan pool chairs to DMRC. Repairs and maintenance will be provided across the UK with the assistance of accredited Sunrise retail partners.
AJM’s CEO, Mark Perress, said: “Our business ethos and commitment to providing innovative and truly focused wheelchair services has really helped the award of such a prestigious contract. The AJM team will be working very hard in partnership with the MOD to ensure our brave service personnel receive the very highest level of care.”
The contract will last for three years with an option to extend for a further two years.
In November 2018, AJM Healthcare secured a major contract for the NHS Wheelchair Service for Adults and Children across Derbyshire following its management buy-out (MBO).
AJM Healthcare provides a wide range of wheelchair, mobility, procurement, disabled equipment and other services to a wide range of individuals and public bodies throughout the UK.
