Simon Ferry OT on the Abacus Stand

The OT Service’s Adam Ferry will be presenting a new CPD-accredited bathing education seminar in association with Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions to occupational therapists at OTAC Midlands this January.

The collaboration between the healthcare professional and assisted bathing supplier continues the trend of forward-thinking companies engaging with occupational therapists through valuable educational content. Recently, Stiltz announced it would also be delivering an educational seminar at the same event.

An independently practising OT, Adam also helps deliver the nationwide Abacus CPD training programme and ‘Lunch and Learn’ assisted bathing workshops.

With bathing assessment typically centring around the physical transfer aspect of getting in and out of the bath, Adam’s ‘Bathing and Sleep – joining the dots’ seminar will see the experience OT focus on the more often-overlooked topic.

In his session, Adam will consider the occupation of bathing with a particular focus on how bathing can support sleep and positive routines, discussing the impact on children and their parents as well as adults and their carers.

The presentation will also aim to help delegates develop a greater understanding of the equipment available to support bathing as a meaningful occupation.

In addition to attending his OTAC seminar, healthcare professionals at the event will be able to gather evidence-based bathing case studies, says the company, including guides to DFG bath funding and details regarding Abacus “Lunch and Learn” assisted bathing workshops.

OTAC Midlands will take place between 9am to 4pm on the 22nd January 2020 at Drayton Manor Hotel, Drayton Manor Theme Park, Drayton Bassett, B78 3TW

Adam’s seminar will run from 11:00 to 11:30am in Theatre 2
