Abacus prepares to debut assisted bath range with built-in leg lift at The OT Show
Assisted bath manufacturer Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions, will be debuting its recently launched Libra range of assisted baths at the OT Show, which takes place at Birmingham’s NEC from 27–28 November 2024.
The new seated bathing system from Abacus, known as the Libra, continues this heritage by delivering a “unique” leg lift feature that ensures individuals with more complex needs can enjoy the clinical benefits of bathing.
The Libra bath range, with bather transfer seats, includes fixed height and variable height models with the option to choose a built-in leg lift. This feature enhances the powered seat which lifts, rotates and lowers a bather into the bath.
If an individual needs assistance to lift their legs over the side of the bath, the leg lift means a carer or relative does not need to help manually. This reduces the risk of back or muscle strain for the carer and increases dignity for the bather.
Once in the bath, the Libra provides a spacious and supportive space for hygiene and therapy. If the variable height model is chosen, then the bath can be lifted so carers can engage at eye level and the risk of injury from stooping or excessive bending can be avoided.
As with all Abacus baths, the Libra is manufactured with integrated BioCote antimicrobial protection as standard – which Abacus claims is unique in the assistive bathing sector.
Alongside this, the Libra offers a range of therapeutic options including Hydrotherapy air-spa, Chromotherapy lighting and a Bluetooth sound system. In terms of built-in showering, there are also choices including a roaming bath filler option or a KIWA approved EasyShower5 with CAT5 water contamination protection.
The Libra will be available for live demonstrations on Stand D20 and the Abacus Product Assessment Managers will be on hand with expert advice, literature, and details regarding their demonstration vehicles and free Abacus Academy CPD.
Last year, Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions, in association with The OT Service, was awarded ‘Best on-stand CPD education’ for the second year running at the OT Show.
