AAT GB highlights postural support belt system for safer travel
AAT GB is highlighting its Voyageur motability belt system, a postural support solution designed to improve safety and stability for individuals who require additional positioning support while travelling.
Developed to meet the needs of users who have outgrown conventional car seats but still require effective posture stabilisation, the system combines discreet design with practical functionality for use in vehicles and other seating environments.
Once a person exceeds 150cm in height, they are generally too large for a conventional car seat and the support it provides. AAT says its Voyageur motability belt system is designed to address this issue quickly and discreetly.
The system was developed by inventors with lived experience of the challenge themselves, having a disabled child whose needs inspired the creation of Voyageur when they outgrew a conventional car seat.
Voyageur is a straightforward system comprising two elements: the Seat Grid tether system and the X-Posture Suit positioning safety belts. Each element is secured using magnetic buckles, allowing it to be attached, fitted and released quickly, including with one hand. No tools are required.
Although developed primarily for use in vehicles, the universal-sized Seat Grid can be attached to any seat where the straps can pass between the base cushion and the backrest.
The X-Posture Suit features a belt configuration with shoulder and hip straps, providing torso security, lateral and vertical stability, and correct positioning, including abduction to the thighs and stability to the pelvis. It is available in two sizes, depending on the user’s waist and thigh dimensions.
