WINNERS: Industry’s best celebrated at BHTA Annual Awards 2018
Celebrating the best in class for innovation, teamwork and success at a glittering gala event, the industry came together for the 23rd British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) Annual Awards Dinner 2018, with companies and individuals across a broad spectrum of the mobility, independent living and rehabilitation represented.
250 attendees from over 50 organisations in the industry gathered at the Alton Towers Hotel in Stoke-on-Trent to praise the efforts of award-winning companies and individuals, selected by an independent judging panel.
Speaking on the night, Alastair Maxwell, Chairman of the BHTA, said: “The BHTA Awards Dinner is our opportunity to celebrate success and innovation within our industry; an industry which truly makes a difference to people’s lives; an industry, I am sure, we are all proud to be a part of.”
Hosted by inspirational speaker Simon Weston CBE – a soldier and survivor who sustained serious burns to 46 percent of his body whilst on the RAF Sir Galahad during the Falklands War – the evening saw 13 awards presented to those that the Association says “supported innovation, invested in their businesses, trained and developed others and had the tenacity to get the ball into the back of the net.”
Discussing the evening, Sally Edgington, Membership Engagement Manager at the BHTA and the event’s organiser, commented: “The event was the best-attended awards dinner in the history of BHTA, so a change of location and something a bit different was well received.
“The event was an opportunity for the BHTA, members and stakeholders to celebrate all the fantastic work that is done by industry and for them to let their hair down and enjoy the upbeat party atmosphere. I am very proud to have been involved with the event and hope that this year’s awards can be built on further by the BHTA moving forwards.”
In addition to presenting awards to stand out organisations in the industry, the event also saw representatives from the Stroke Association presented with a cheque for £3,000 following the efforts of the Association’s Steptember campaign.
